El Mokawloon El Arab sign Ismaily defender Mohamed Ammar

El Mokawloon El Arab have completed the signing of Mohamed Ammar from Ismaily, with the 26-year-old centre-back agreeing a three-year contract with the club.

The move, previously reported by FilGoal.com, will see El Mokawloon El Arab pay six million Egyptian pounds for the defender. Ammar has also agreed to waive two million Egyptian pounds in outstanding dues owed to him by Ismaily.

Ammar joins after making 21 appearances for Ismaily during the previous season, scoring three goals. Across his time with the club, he played 95 matches in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing one assist.

His arrival is part of El Mokawloon El Arab’s preparations for the new campaign, with the club also adding Shady Hussein, Mohamed Sandouqa, Youssef Safina, Anas Bani Ouda, Sherif Reda and Mido Gaber to their squad.

The club will retain Sami Komsan as manager for another season after he took charge during the second half of the previous campaign. Komsan, who is 50, led the team in 32 matches in all competitions, recording 10 wins, 16 draws and six defeats.

El Mokawloon El Arab finished last season seventh in the relegation group, ending the campaign with 38 points.

Ammar’s transfer gives the club further defensive depth as they look to improve on that finish. The centre-back’s experience with Ismaily includes a substantial number of appearances at senior level, while his three goals last season represented his most productive campaign in terms of scoring for the club.

The agreement also concludes his spell with Ismaily, where he established himself as a regular option in defence. El Mokawloon El Arab will now rely on him as part of a reshaped squad under Komsan, who will continue in the role after guiding the side through the latter part of last season.

The club’s recruitment activity has already included several other arrivals, with Hussein, Sandouqa, Safina, Bani Ouda, Reda and Gaber joining Ammar in the new-look group. Their additions come as the team prepares for another season following its seventh-place finish in the relegation section.

FilGoal.com had earlier revealed that the transfer would be completed on the financial terms now agreed, including the payment to Ismaily and Ammar’s decision to relinquish part of his outstanding entitlements. The final arrangement allows the defender to move to El Mokawloon El Arab on a contract lasting until the end of the next three seasons.
