German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in signing Ivorian defender Clement Akpa this summer.
According to sources, the Bundesliga side has approached AJ Auxerre to inquire about the possibility of recruiting the youngster.
The 23-year-old centre-back was a standout performer for Auxerre during their return to Ligue 1 last season, playing a key role under manager Christophe Pélissier.
His impressive displays not only helped secure the club’s top-flight status but also earned him a call-up to the Ivory Coast national team.
According to L’Équipe, Frankfurt have initiated contact with Auxerre to explore a potential transfer, as their pursuit of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Ko Itakura has stalled.
The German club, which finished third in the Bundesliga last season, sees Akpa as a strong alternative to reinforce their defence.
Auxerre have already seen some key departures this summer, with Hamed Junior Traoré returning to Bournemouth and Gaëtan Perrin moving to the Russian Premier League.
Akpa could be the next exit, although he remains under contract with the French side until 2027.
The Ivorian defender has also attracted interest from Premier League clubs this summer.
