Eintracht Frankfurt add Nigeria midfielder Raphael Onyedika in long-term move

Eintracht Frankfurt have officially confirmed the signing of Nigeria midfielder Raphael Onyedika, who has agreed to remain with the Bundesliga club until 2031.

The German side announced the deal on Sunday through its official communication channels, bringing an end to Onyedika’s four-season spell with Cercle Brugge.

Onyedika will now continue his career in the Bundesliga, with Eintracht Frankfurt securing a midfielder whose considerable work rate is expected to strengthen their defensive presence in the centre of the pitch. His role will be focused on providing greater protection and balance in midfield as he begins a new chapter in Germany.

The Nigeria international leaves Belgian football after a period in which he featured prominently at the highest level. During his time under the colours of Club Brugge, he played in the Champions League and helped win the Belgian championship, the Belgian Cup and the Belgian Super Cup.

His move to Eintracht Frankfurt also represents a return to a major European league after his earlier spell with Danish club FC Midtjylland. The 2031 contract underlines the length of the commitment agreed between the player and his new club.

Onyedika’s arrival gives Eintracht Frankfurt an additional defensive option in midfield as the club welcomes him to the Bundesliga. The transfer was confirmed directly by the club rather than being reported as an outstanding or pending agreement, making his move official on Sunday.

For the Nigeria midfielder, the switch follows four seasons at Cercle Brugge and a successful period in Belgium that included domestic honours and Champions League experience.
