Tensions are heating up between Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and several top clubs over new changes to the country’s Sports Law.
The ministry recently submitted draft amendments to the Cabinet, aiming to send them to the House of Representatives. However, some major clubs including Al Ahly, Al Shams, and Al Zohour have raised concerns over the lack of consultation.
Insiders told Kooora that club officials are now holding talks to form a united front in challenging the proposed changes. Their main concern is the absence of transparency and involvement in the process.
These clubs have also reached out to the Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC), which confirmed that the ministry did not share the amendments through any official channels, not even during the general assembly in February.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports has received a letter from the International Olympic Committee, asking to review the draft before it reaches parliament. The dispute highlights growing frustration among clubs, who feel sidelined in decisions that may reshape Egypt’s sports structure.
