Hossam Hassan, the coach of Egypt’s national football team, has extended a heartfelt apology to Zamalek fans following remarks made during his stint on the comedy prank show “Ramez Elon Masr,” broadcast on Saturday.
The episode sparked a stir among supporters, prompting the Pharaohs’ boss to clarify his position in an official statement.
The veteran tactician explained that his comments were heavily altered in the editing room, skewing their intended meaning particularly regarding Ahmed Mostafa “Zizo” and a potential switch to Al Ahly.
“I said during the episode that the best thing for Zizo would be to stay with Zamalek, but large parts of my statement were edited out,” Hassan noted.
He further revealed that host Ramez Galal had pressed him on how a move to Al Ahly might technically benefit Zizo, to which he replied it could be advantageous but stressed this was “reported incompletely.”
Expressing regret for “any unintended misunderstanding,” Hassan underscored his deep admiration for Zamalek and its passionate fanbase, while also saluting all Egyptian clubs and their supporters.
