Vitesse Arnhem have completed the signing of 22‑year‑old midfielder Moustafa Ashraf Moustafa on a free transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach, penning a contract that runs until 2027 with an option for an additional season.
A product of Mönchengladbach’s youth setup since 2013, Moustafa has spent the past two seasons featuring for the club’s reserve side in the Regionalliga West.
Born in Egypt, he holds dual nationality and has represented both German and Egyptian youth national teams, underlining his versatility and international pedigree.
Vitesse identified Moustafa during a trial stint last season, particularly impressed by his performance in a 4–4 friendly draw against Wuppertaler SV.
His technical flair, creative vision, and attacking instincts stood out during the match and training sessions, prompting Vitesse to secure his signature.
“I am very happy to be here,” Moustafa said following his signing. “Last season’s trial period went very well. That’s why I am even happier to sign my contract here now. I can’t wait to meet the supporters.”
This acquisition marks Vitesse’s second reinforcement of the summer, reflecting a strategic approach to squad building. Moustafa’s addition adds depth and youthful promise to their midfield, aligning with the club’s philosophy of intelligent recruitment and player development.
Over the coming season, Moustafa is expected to integrate into Vitesse’s first team, offering creativity and energy in central midfield.
His blend of technical ability and adaptability will be an asset as the Arnhem side targets domestic success and a push for promotion.
Vitesse’s sporting director hailed the signing as a valuable addition. By securing a player with dual international eligibility and steady professional experience at the reserve level, the club demonstrates its commitment to nurturing emerging talent.
As pre-season preparations continue, Moustafa is poised to begin training with his new teammates and to take on the challenge of Dutch football.
His progress this season could define his long-term role at Vitesse and possibly open doors to senior international recognition in Egypt or Germany.
For now, fans in Arnhem can look forward to watching this promising midfielder make an impact on the pitch, as Vitesse continue their pursuit of balanced growth and competitive ambition.
