AL-MASRY AL-YAOUM has learned that Amer Hussein, the supervisor of competitions and a board member of the Egyptian Football Association, is currently considering a new proposal for the format of the Second Division League (Group B) during the upcoming season.
According to the new proposal, the Second Division League will be divided into 4 groups instead of the current 6 groups, aiming to avoid holding a promotion tournament where three teams from the top six clubs of each group ascend.
The proposal also suggests that the teams from Upper Egypt will be distributed across two groups instead of the current arrangement where they are all placed in one group, with one group comprising teams from Cairo and the Canal region, and another for the coastal region and Alexandria.
Additionally, four teams will be relegated from the professional leagues in the upcoming season, with the new league set to kick off in mid-September.
