Egyptian Premier League: Pyramids and Zamalek triumph as Al Ahly stumble and Ceramica steal late victory

The 13th round of the Egyptian Premier League produced a thrilling mix of drama and quality, as Pyramids FC and Zamalek SC registered important wins, Al Ahly were frustrated by Al Masry, and league leaders Ceramica Cleopatra staged a breathtaking comeback in stoppage time.

At the 30 June Stadium, Pyramids FC asserted their dominance early against Al Ittihad.

Marwan Hamdi broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, finishing off a slick attacking move to give the home side the advantage.

Despite Al Ittihad’s attempts to respond, they struggled to convert possession into meaningful chances before halftime.

The second half maintained a brisk tempo, with both sides creating opportunities.

Pyramids extended their lead through Ahmed Atef in the 80th minute, whose close-range finish seemed to seal the win.

However, Karim El Deeb reduced the deficit six minutes later with a confidently taken penalty, setting up a tense finale.

Pyramids held firm to secure a 2-1 victory, climbing to fourth in the table with 20 points.

Al Ittihad, meanwhile, remain in deep trouble, anchored in 20th place with only eight points.

At Cairo International Stadium, Zamalek were in commanding form as they overpowered Tala’ea El Geish 3-1.

The hosts struck first through Nasser Maher, who found the net in the fifth minute to put the visitors immediately on the back foot.

Zamalek’s momentum continued after the break, with Maher grabbing his second in the 49th minute before Oday Dabbagh made it three just after the hour mark.

Mohamed Atef pulled one back for El Geish late on, but Zamalek comfortably saw out the game to secure their third straight victory.

The win moves them to third place with 22 points, while El Geish sit 18th on 10 points.

Al Ahly endured a frustrating evening at Al Salam Stadium, where they were held to a 0-0 draw by a disciplined Al Masry side.

Despite controlling much of the possession, the defending champions found no way through a resolute defence that stood firm under pressure.

The result leaves Al Ahly in second place with 23 points, just behind Ceramica Cleopatra, while Al Masry drop to fifth on 20 points.

The most dramatic match of the day unfolded in Cairo, where Ceramica Cleopatra stunned Petrojet 2-1 in a remarkable finale.

Petrojet took the lead in the 18th minute through Mostafa El Badry and looked set for victory as time ticked away.

But substitute Sodiq Awujoola turned the match on its head, equalising in the 92nd minute before firing home the winner deep into stoppage time — in the 99th minute — even after Karim Nedved had been sent off.

The victory keeps Ceramica Cleopatra top of the table with 26 points, while Petrojet remain 13th with 15.
