Following Egypt’s advancement to the Round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations after a draw with Cape Verde in the group stage, four key players—Marwan Attia, Omar Marmoush, Mohamed Hani, and Imam Ashour—shared their thoughts on the achievement.
Marwan Attia, speaking to ON Time Sports, commented on the team’s solidarity, stating, “We don’t follow social media.
Any eleven players on the field, we all have each other’s backs, and we all love each other, trying to give everything we have for Egypt.”
Omar Marmoush acknowledged that not winning in the group stage can happen, emphasizing the unity among the 27 players.
“Every player has our support, and we saw Trezeguet coming in as a substitute, making a difference.”
Mohamed Hani highlighted the paramount importance of qualifying, stating, “There are significant teams that did not qualify, and thankfully, we achieved our goal of advancing.”
He added, “Mohamed Salah is one of the most committed players. Every day, we learn from him, and he teaches us new things.
I wish him a speedy recovery, and I hope he returns to us in the semi-final and final.”
Imam Ashour expressed admiration for Mohamed Salah, describing him as a great player and a source of pride for everyone.
He emphasized that Salah will remain a pride for the entire team.
As Egypt looks forward to the knockout stage, the players’ remarks underline the team’s unity, commitment, and determination to make their nation proud in the Africa Cup of Nations.
