Sports pundit Saif Zaher disclosed details of his call with Mohamed Abu Jabal, the goalkeeper for the primary football team of Al Ahli Bank and the Egyptian national team.
Speaking on ON Time Sports, Zaher stated, “A conversation took place between Abu Jabal and me.
He insisted I relay his words verbatim.
What I am about to share is exactly what Abu Jabal said to me over the phone.”
Zaher continued, “Mohamed Abu Jabal is seriously considering retiring from football.
He is grappling with poor mental health due to recent events, particularly Egypt’s exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Abu Jabal confirmed that he has faced immense pressure and injustice recently.”
Addressing rumors of discord with fellow goalkeeper El Shenawy, Abu Jabal remarked, “I am astonished by claims of a rift between El Shenawy and me.
We have never quarreled, never disagreed, and I have never wronged him.”
Prior to the Congo match, Abu Jabal recounted, “I found all the players in the camp asking me if I had signed for Al Ahly.”
Furthermore, he clarified, “Negotiations between Al Ahly and Al Ahli Bank administrations were conducted with my brother Mustafa, and I was unaware of them.
An agreement to announce the contract was reached after the Africa Cup of Nations.
I swear I did not sign any contracts with Al Ahly.”
Concluding his remarks, Zaher quoted Abu Jabal saying, “If Amir Tawfik or any official from Al Ahly confirms that I have signed a contract, I will quit football.”
Abu Jabal’s contemplation of retirement marks a significant development in Egyptian football, signaling potential shifts in both club and national team dynamics.
