Egyptian football powerhouse Al Ahly have reportedly identified Pitso Mosimane as a leading candidate to succeed current head coach Marcel Koller.
According to multiple reports, the Red Devils are weighing up the option of parting ways with Koller, whose contract is set to expire at the end of next season.
With speculation mounting over the Swiss tactician’s future, Mosimane — a former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns boss — has emerged as a frontrunner to make a sensational return to Cairo.
Affectionately known as “Jingles,” Mosimane previously spent nearly two years at the helm of the Egyptian giants, guiding them to multiple titles, including back-to-back CAF Champions League triumphs.
However, Al Ahly are reportedly keeping their options open. Former Zamalek manager Jose Gomes, currently coaching Saudi outfit Al-Fateh, is also believed to be under consideration if Koller departs.
The outcome of Al Ahly’s upcoming CAF Champions League semi-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns — set to be contested over two legs — is expected to play a key role in determining Koller’s fate.
