FC Barcelona are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, with fresh claims suggesting the Catalan giants have begun preliminary planning ahead of a potential move.

According to Spanish outlet Diario Sport, Barcelona view Marmoush as an ideal fit for the tactical framework of head coach Hansi Flick. The versatile attacker is capable of operating on the wing, as a false nine or in a number ten role, qualities that reportedly appeal to the club’s technical staff.

Marmoush joined Manchester City just a year ago in a deal said to be worth around 70 million euros. However, he has recently found himself playing a secondary role, with Phil Foden and Antoine Semenyo currently ahead of him in the attacking hierarchy.

Barcelona are said to be assessing whether City would be open to negotiations for a player they only recently invested heavily in. Any potential deal would likely depend on both sporting considerations and financial feasibility, given the significant transfer fee involved.

The report further suggests that a successful pursuit of Marmoush would lead Barcelona to abandon their interest in other high profile attacking targets such as Julián Álvarez and Victor Osimhen, marking a clear shift in their transfer strategy for the upcoming window.
