Esam Abdel-Fattah, an international lecturer, refereeing expert, and former head of the refereeing committee, emphasized the importance of FIFA lectures to referees, sometimes necessitating the reminder to make incorrect decisions to calm tensions on the field, noting that this approach is crucial.
In televised remarks, Abdel-Fattah stated, “We have referees at the highest level, but the circumstances in Egypt are challenging due to the amount of pressure on referees.”
He added, “It is inappropriate for us to choose a foreign refereeing expert who has not held any position in his own country, and I will not return to the Egyptian refereeing committee again.”
Abdel-Fattah concluded, “If I were a state official, those who selected the foreign expert, far from the development of refereeing, must be held accountable. Opportunities must be given to Egyptian refereeing experts, and advisors should be selected to include an Egyptian element to assist the system.”
