In a quick turn of events, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has delayed its upcoming meeting with league clubs, originally scheduled for Tuesday.
The decision follows recent talks between Professional Clubs Association president Ahmed Diab and league representatives that resulted in sweeping changes for the upcoming season.
The EFA, led by Hani Abou Rida, has now set June 2 as the new date for the meeting. Club officials and the League Council are expected to gather to go over critical topics tied to the 2025–2026 season.
Top of the agenda will be registration rules, club licensing procedures, and new competition structures for youth and junior levels.
These discussions come in response to bold moves made by the league, which recently agreed to scrap relegation for the current season and expand the league to 21 teams. Another change includes allowing five overage foreign players and three foreign players in youth categories.
The EFA hopes to finalize a clear framework that supports the league’s changes while aligning with broader goals for local football development.
