The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has received an official letter from Liverpool Football Club requesting the exemption of Mohamed Salah from the upcoming national team camp due to injury concerns.
The Egyptian national team is set to embark on its first camp under the leadership of the new coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan, during the current month of March.
Earlier reports from “Yalla Koura” had indicated Liverpool’s intention to communicate with the Egyptian Football Association to request Salah’s absence from the Pharaohs’ upcoming camp.
Confirming Liverpool’s correspondence, the EFA stated that it has indeed received a letter from the English club seeking Salah’s exemption from the March camp citing his injury.
Furthermore, Salah’s name had already been included among the professional players to be called up for Egypt’s upcoming camp days ago.
The issue of Salah’s call-up remains within the jurisdiction of the national team’s coaching staff, according to the EFA, emphasizing that it is the prerogative of the technical team led by Hossam Hassan to decide on the matter.
The Egyptian Football Association clarified that it is still early to make a final decision, indicating that if Mohamed Salah participates in any match for Liverpool before the Pharaohs’ camp commences, the national team will insist on his inclusion.
However, Salah will undergo a medical examination to assess his readiness for participation, as determined by the Egyptian team’s medical staff.
During the international agenda, the Egyptian national team is scheduled to participate in a friendly tournament in the United Arab Emirates, featuring Tunisia, Croatia, and New Zealand, set to take place between March 22nd and 26th.
