Jamal Allam, the President of the Egyptian Football Association, emphasized the need for amendments to the association’s regulations to ensure fairness and justice within Egyptian football.
Speaking at a major event organized by the International Muslim Youth Association in Qena, Allam highlighted Egypt’s recent victories in securing leadership positions in North African football and membership in the executive council of the Confederation of African Football.
He attributed these successes to Egypt’s strong position in both the Arab and African regions, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who has prioritized restoring Egypt’s natural standing across all levels and demonstrating unparalleled support for the sports sector.
During his address, Allam discussed the efforts of the Egyptian Football Association to increase clubs’ resources by selling their individual league broadcasting rights to maximize revenue.
He revealed that the broadcasting rights’ value has significantly increased, with the association’s share reaching 44 million Egyptian pounds this year, compared to just 20 million pounds in the previous season.
Allam pointed out flaws in the association’s statutes, stressing the necessity for the general assembly to amend them to benefit clubs rather than individuals within the association.
He emphasized the neglect of the fourth division and youth sectors in the current regulations and urged clubs to demand revisions to enable the organization of stronger competitions for youth and lower-tier teams.
Addressing the issue of accumulated debts among some clubs, Allam explained that the Egyptian Football Association cannot waive these debts unilaterally.
He called on clubs to include this matter as a priority in the agenda for the new regulations to facilitate debt relief in the future.
Allam commended the clubs in Upper Egypt for their unwavering support and stressed the importance of unity among clubs, highlighting their crucial role in the success of Egyptian football.
