Egyptian Football Association grants Zamalek more time in Ahmed Mostafa Zizo dispute
In a new twist to the high-profile Ahmed Mostafa Zizo case, the Egyptian Football Association’s legal department has agreed to Zamalek’s formal request to postpone the hearing originally set for Tuesday.
This move gives Zamalek a month to gather documents needed to respond to claims from ex-star Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, who recently transferred to Al Ahly after contract disagreements and missed training sessions.
Zizo’s exit sparked heated debate and led to mutual complaints. Zamalek accused Zizo of contract violations and questioned the legality of his timing and advertising deals, while Zizo claimed the club owes him overdue payments totaling 80 million Egyptian pounds, which he reportedly never received. Zamalek, in turn, requested to delay the hearing, aiming to provide evidence of payments and possibly seek penalties against Zizo, alleging a breach and unlawful signing period.
Since joining Zamalek from Portugal’s Moreirense in 2019, Zizo became a key player, winning league, cup, and continental honors. His impact continued after joining Al Ahly in June, scoring and assisting in league and club World Cup matches. His injury recently kept him out of a crucial derby, but he returned to action and also featured for Egypt’s national team.
The saga continues as both sides prepare for what could be a defining decision.
