With the U-20 World Cup fast approaching, the Egyptian Football Association is stepping up preparations by confirming two friendly matches between Egypt and Morocco’s youth teams this August.
The FIFA U-20 World Cup kicks off in Chile on September 27 and ends October 19. In the build-up, Egypt’s U-20 side, coached by Osama Nabih, will head to Casablanca for a training camp from August 11 to 16. As part of the camp, Egypt will face Morocco in back-to-back friendlies on August 13 and 15.
Hamada Anwar, the team’s administrative director, confirmed that all travel arrangements are underway. “We’ve begun making arrangements to complete all travel procedures,” he told the Egyptian FA’s media center.
On Sunday, Egypt’s U-20s tested their strength in a tough friendly against Al Ahly. The young Pharaohs lost 1-0, with Slovenian forward Nets Gradisar scoring the only goal for the Red Devils.
At the tournament, Egypt will compete in Group A with Japan, Chile, and New Zealand. Morocco, meanwhile, is drawn in a tough Group C with Brazil, Spain, and Mexico.
