The Egyptian Football Association has rejected reports from Moroccan media claiming it is preparing to dismiss national team coach Hossam Hassan over his recent criticism of AFCON 2025 organisation in Morocco.
Those reports suggested the federation would summon Hassan to question him about his statements and might even move to terminate his contract, but officials have pushed back firmly.
Board member Mostafa Abu Zahra stated that there is no intention within the EFA to part ways with Hossam Hassan or his backroom staff, stressing that the coach remains in full charge of the Pharaohs.
He added that the technical team has already started planning for the next stage beyond the Africa Cup of Nations, with a particular focus on the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico next summer.
Egypt are now concentrating on their immediate task at AFCON, as they face Nigeria on Saturday in the third‑place playoff. The Pharaohs lost 1–0 to Senegal in the semi‑final, while Nigeria were eliminated on penalties by hosts Morocco after a goalless draw over 120 minutes.
