Al Ain have completed the signing of experienced Egyptian centre-back Ramy Rabia, adding much-needed strength to their defence ahead of next month’s FIFA Club World Cup.
The Emirati champions unveiled Rabia with a short welcome video shared on social media on Monday evening. The move comes shortly after the 31-year-old’s contract with Egyptian giants Al Ahly expired following a title-winning season in the domestic league.
Rabia’s arrival is seen as a key step in bolstering Al Ain’s squad for the upcoming tournament in the United States, which runs from 14 June to 13 July. The club, crowned 2024 AFC Champions League winners, are set to face European champions Manchester City, Moroccan side Wydad, and Italy’s Juventus in Group G.
A product of Al Ahly’s youth system, Rabia made his senior debut in 2010 and has since featured regularly for both his club and the Egyptian national team across youth and senior levels.
His move marks one of several strategic signings by Al Ain aimed at sharpening their competitiveness on the world stage.
