The record CAF Champions League holders are in the market for top-notch players in an attempt to make a meaningful impact at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to be staged in the USA.
The tournament will have 32 teams, and Al Ahly is in Group A with Inter Miami, Porto, and Palmeiras. The tournament’s opening match will see Al Ahly face off against a star-studded Inter Miami team, including Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
Al Ahly manager Marcel Koller is said to be keen about augmenting their attack for future competitions.
And according to reports, the Egyptian club have begun talks to snap up Iheanacho from Sevilla this window.
Al Ahly is said to be the top choice to sign the former Leicester City marksman in ongoing transfer window.
Iheanacho has failed to live up to expectations since joining the Spanish club in 2024 summer and Sevilla are said to be ready to sanction his departure from the club on temporal basis.
This season, he has not scored or assisted in any of his nine La Liga appearances. However, several clubs from Europe and the United States, including teams from Greece, Turkey and America, are interested in him.
Iheanacho, 28, has played 11 games for Sevilla and scored three goals.
