Egypt national football team departs for crucial African cup qualifier against Cape Verde
The game is scheduled for Friday at 18:00 local time at Cape Verde’s National Stadium, as part of the fifth round of the tournament qualifiers, which will culminate in Morocco.
General Helmy Mashhour, a member of the Egyptian Football Association, is overseeing the national delegation on this important trip.
The Egyptian team has already secured its qualification for the upcoming Africa Cup, having amassed an impressive 12 points, which placed them at the top of Group C with two rounds still remaining.
This commanding position guarantees their place in Morocco for the 2025 tournament, and Egypt is currently in first place in their group standings.
Trailing Egypt in Group C is Botswana, with 6 points, followed by both Cape Verde and Mauritania, each with 3 points.
With this gap, Egypt’s qualification was sealed early, reflecting their dominance throughout the qualifying rounds.
