The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has unveiled a bold set of new regulations for the 2025/26 season, expanding club squad sizes while maintaining strict rules on foreign player participation.
Under the leadership of Hani Abou Rida, the EFA confirmed that clubs can now register up to 35 players, up from last season’s 30.
The summer registration period will open from 11 to 28 June for the main list, with a follow-up window from 29 June to 6 August. Winter transfers are scheduled between 1 January and 8 February.
While the foreign player cap remains unchanged, five overage and three underage per squad, only five can play per match. Palestinian players continue to be treated as local signings.
In a move to boost youth development, the EFA will launch a new league for players born in 2005, alongside age-specific competitions for those born between 2007 and 2012.
Loan regulations have been refined: clubs can loan out or bring in up to six players per season, but no more than three from the same team, and for a maximum of one season.
