Nigeria’s Super Eagles are poised to continue their winning streak as they prepare to face Rwanda’s Amavubi in a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Tuesday. Head coach Augustine Eguavoen is confident his team can secure another three points and maintain their lead in the qualification standings.
Speaking ahead of the match, Eguavoen expressed his satisfaction with the team’s preparation and morale in camp.
“The atmosphere in camp is great, and we have the correct mindset right now.
Everyone in the camp is excited for us to win in Rwanda and maintain our lead in the qualification standings,” Eguavoen said.
The coach emphasized that the Super Eagles are focused on the task at hand, treating the match as a business trip.
“I’m glad that everyone is in agreement because our goal for being here is business.
I am also happy that we have arrived here in good time, and the players can rest well while we look forward to the official training on Monday afternoon,” Eguavoen added.
The Nigerian contingent, comprising 23 players and team officials, touched down at Kigali International Airport on Sunday after departing from Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo.
The team traveled aboard a ValueJet Airline Regional Jet 900, arriving in Kigali at 5:20 p.m.
local time, one hour ahead of Nigerian time.
The delegation, led by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, also included NFF First Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, and several executive committee members, stakeholders, and media representatives.
The Super Eagles head into the match on a high, having defeated Benin Republic in their previous qualifier.
Eguavoen’s squad will be looking to extend their unbeaten run and further cement their position at the top of their qualifying group.
With a roster of seasoned international players, including Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, and Wilfred Ndidi, Nigeria remains one of the strongest teams in the qualification campaign.
Meanwhile, Rwanda’s Amavubi are also determined to put up a strong fight.
Rwanda’s striker Ernest Nshuti vowed to score against the Super Eagles, aiming to upset the Nigerian defense.
Despite their resilience, Rwanda will be facing an uphill battle against a Nigerian side brimming with confidence and ambition.
The Super Eagles’ strong form and tactical discipline under Eguavoen have placed them in a commanding position in their qualifying group.
Eguavoen’s leadership and the team’s collective spirit have fostered optimism that they can secure another important victory on the road to AFCON 2025.
Tuesday’s encounter at the Amahoro Stadium promises to be a fiercely contested affair, with both teams vying for a crucial win.
As the Super Eagles aim to extend their dominance in the qualifiers, Rwandan fans will be hoping that home advantage could provide the spark needed to challenge Nigeria’s formidable squad.
Kickoff is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, and all eyes will be on the Super Eagles as they look to continue their march toward AFCON qualification, knowing that another victory would bring them one step closer to their ultimate goal.
