Efforts to overcome Awad’s anger at Zamalek

The board of directors of Zamalek Club, led by Hussein Labib, is making efforts to contain the anger of Mohamed Awad, the first-team goalkeeper, due to his absence from the starting lineup in the match against Ismaily, which ended in a goalless draw in the thirteenth round of the Premier League.

According to “Al Masry Al Youm,” Mohamed Awad expressed his frustration at not being a regular starter in the Ismaily match after the head coach, Jose Peseiro, decided to start with Mohamed Sobhi instead.

Awad demanded a definitive resolution of his situation before making a decision on renewing his contract in the near future, especially as he has received offers from both domestic and Gulf clubs for a potential transfer starting from next season.

According to a reliable source within the White Castle – who declined to be named – Hussein El Sayed, a board member, will meet with the head coach to understand the real reasons behind not fielding Mohamed Awad.

Additionally, he will meet with the team’s goalkeeper to contain his anger, as the board aims to renew the goalkeeper’s contract given his pivotal role in the team.

Mohamed Awad had received assurances from the national team’s coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan, that he would be included in the upcoming camp in the UAE before the national team was surprised by his absence from the starting lineup.

This development angered the goalkeeper, who saw it as an opportunity to represent his country.
