The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has extended the mandate of its Appeals Committee, pushing the final decision on the Zamalek-Al Ahly summit fallout to 15 May.
Thursday’s meeting, chaired by Judge Mohamed Abdo Saleh, was expected to conclude the case surrounding the cancelled 11 March league clash between the Cairo giants. However, the committee delayed its ruling, citing the absence of key documents related to the League of Clubs’ appealed decision.
The postponement gives the committee more time to assess the situation and hear from relevant parties. Taha Ezzat, head of the Competitions Committee, has been summoned for the next session to provide further clarification.
The controversial fixture was scrapped after Al Ahly failed to show up, protesting the appointment of foreign referees. Initially, the Competitions Committee ruled a 3-0 loss and three-point deduction against Al Ahly.
However, the League’s Board, led by Ahmed Diab, later overturned the point deduction. This reversal prompted appeals from Zamalek and Pyramids, urging a re-evaluation by the Appeals Committee.
