The Egyptian Football Association has formally notified the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of the four clubs that will represent Egypt in the upcoming continental competitions for the 2024–2025 season.
Al Ahly, reigning champions of the Egyptian Premier League, will once again lead the country’s charge in the CAF Champions League.
They will be joined in the tournament by league runners-up Pyramids FC, who secured second place in the domestic standings to claim the second Champions League berth.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Egypt will be represented by Zamalek and Al Masry. Zamalek qualified for the competition by virtue of winning the Egypt Cup, reaffirming their stature on the domestic front.
Al Masry, who finished fourth in the Premier League standings, were granted the second Confederation Cup slot.
The confirmation puts an end to speculation surrounding Egypt’s African representatives amid a tightly contested season that saw fierce competition for continental qualification.
The EFA’s decision aligns with CAF’s regulations, which stipulate qualification through league and domestic cup performances.
Al Ahly, the most decorated club in African football, will be aiming to extend their dominance on the continent after a string of successful campaigns.
Pyramids FC, now a regular presence in continental competitions, will look to make a deeper run in the Champions League after their impressive performances in recent years.
Zamalek, no strangers to continental glory themselves, will approach the Confederation Cup as strong contenders, buoyed by their Egypt Cup triumph.
Al Masry, meanwhile, will be eager to make an impact and build on their recent domestic resurgence.
This latest announcement underscores Egypt’s continued presence as a powerhouse in African football, with its clubs consistently featuring in the latter stages of CAF tournaments.
As preparations begin for the new season, all four clubs will now turn their attention to squad reinforcements and pre-season plans as they gear up for another test on the continental stage.
