Eberechi Eze calls Arsenal a ‘fun team’ after Champions League win over Lille

Eberechi Eze says Arsenal are a “fun team to play in” after scoring in their 3-0 UEFA Champions League victory against Lille on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old marked his first goal of the 2026/27 campaign with a composed left-footed finish from Bukayo Saka’s cross, extending Arsenal’s lead to 2-0.

Asked after the match what it was like to play in an attack that is producing its best football, Eze replied: “It’s fun!”

“You know that opportunities are coming all over the place, so you’ve just got to be ready, be in the right places, be in the right spaces to get on the end of stuff. It’s a fun team to play in!

“It was an enjoyable performance from all of us. We dominated the game, and we enjoy winning, so that’s the main thing. I always want to play, always want to score, and that’s the mentality – I’ll keep pushing and keep working.”

The former Crystal Palace player has made 60 appearances for the North London club since joining before their 2025/26 Premier League-winning season.

He has scored 11 goals and supplied seven assists during that time.

Arsenal’s control of the game continued after the interval, with the substitutes also helping the side maintain its momentum.

“We were doing a lot in the first half as well,” Eze said.

“And I think the players that came on as well really helped us to push on. That was an important impact.”

The result keeps Arsenal’s start to their Champions League campaign perfect, while Eze’s goal opened his scoring account for the season.

Mikel Arteta’s side will next focus on their domestic schedule, travelling to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.
