Dutch-Nigerian forward Joshua Zirkzee to hand in transfer request for January exit amid West Ham interest

Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly preparing to ask for a transfer away from Manchester United in the January window, as frustration grows over his lack of game time under manager Ruben Amorim.

Born in the Netherlands to a Nigerian mother, Zirkzee joined United from Bologna for £37 million last summer amid high expectations.

But the 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford, featuring only four times this season. His last league goal came back in December.

Reports from The Express indicate that Zirkzee feels sidelined and will formally request to leave the club in search of regular minutes.

The forward has scored just seven goals in 49 appearances since joining United, a record that has left him on the periphery of Amorim’s plans.

The arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko last summer have further reduced his chances of starting.

Sources suggest United may be open to a loan deal rather than a permanent transfer, particularly if it helps the player regain form and confidence.

West Ham United have emerged as the leading contenders for his signature.

The Hammers, who have found the net only six times in eight Premier League matches, are desperate for a reliable striker under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Zirkzee is reportedly open to the move, viewing it as an opportunity to rebuild his career in England.

Several Italian sides, including Roma and Bologna, are also monitoring the situation and could make a late push if United decide to sanction a sale.

For now, Zirkzee remains part of the United squad, but his exit in January appears increasingly inevitable as he seeks a new chapter away from Old Trafford.
