Abdellah Ouazane is on the verge of rejoining Ajax Amsterdam after a brief spell of uncertainty following the expiration of his previous contract at the end of June.

The 16-year-old attacking midfielder, who holds both Dutch and Moroccan nationalities, became a free agent on June 30 after his initial deal with the Eredivisie club came to an end.

His future had become the subject of widespread speculation, with reports linking him to several European giants—most notably Real Madrid. The Spanish side had entered advanced negotiations with his representatives, showing strong interest in securing the teenager’s services.

However, talks with Madrid collapsed after medical checks conducted as part of a preliminary visit raised concerns. That development ultimately led to the breakdown of a potential move to the Spanish capital.

Despite the failed transfer, Ajax remained committed to bringing Ouazane back into their ranks. The Dutch club maintained regular contact with the player and took proactive steps to demonstrate their belief in his long-term potential. In the weeks following his contract expiration, Ajax designed and implemented a tailored development programme aimed at nurturing his transition toward professional football.

Sources close to the situation confirm that bothn Abdellah Ouazae and his older brother Zakaria Ouazane are expected to sign new contracts with Ajax in the coming days. The renewed agreement signals the player’s continued commitment to the Amsterdam-based club, even in the face of interest from abroad.

Ouazane has developed a strong reputation within Ajax’s youth system, having impressed coaches and scouts alike with his creativity, intelligence, and technical versatility.

Capable of playing across multiple positions in the attacking third, he has consistently stood out for his decision-making, composure under pressure, and flair in the final third.

The club now sees his return as a valuable addition to its long-term plans. With a clear developmental path laid out, Ajax intends to nurture his growth in an environment he knows well.

The ultimate goal is to gradually integrate him into the first team, where his attributes could add depth and inventiveness to the squad in seasons to come.

Ouazane’s decision to stay with Ajax marks a significant moment in his young career. It reaffirms the club’s reputation for providing a strong foundation for emerging talent, as well as the importance of trust and familiarity in a player’s development journey.

While Ajax prepares to formalise the deal in the upcoming week, the midfielder’s return is already being seen as a win for the club’s youth structure and scouting department.

With the right support and continued progression, Abdellah Ouazane is expected to play a key role in Ajax’s future ambitions, both domestically and in European competitions.
