Durban City confirm signing of midfielder Ethan Brooks

Durban City have confirmed the signing of midfielder Ethan Brooks, who is returning to South Africa after his spell with Greek club Panserraikos.

Club boss Farook Kadodia confirmed the deal on Friday afternoon, although Durban City have not disclosed the length of the contract agreed with the 24-year-old.

“Basically, we’ve just finalized a deal to sign Ethan Brooks,” Kadodia told this publication on Friday afternoon.

Brooks joins the KwaZulu-Natal side as a free agent after playing for Panserraikos in Greece. The move marks his return to South African football, where he previously represented TS Galaxy and AmaZulu.

His latest transfer gives Durban City another addition to a growing squad assembled by the club. Kadodia’s side have also signed Gaston Sirino, Tashreeq Morris, Bandile Shandu, Seth Green, Kabelo Mofokeng and John Mokone, among others.

The club confirmed that Brooks’ move had been completed, but Kadodia declined to comment on the duration of the midfielder’s contract.

Brooks began his overseas chapter after his time in South Africa with TS Galaxy and AmaZulu. He now returns to the domestic game with Durban City following his stint at Panserraikos.

The confirmation comes as Durban City continue to strengthen their squad with a series of new arrivals. Sirino, Morris, Shandu, Green, Mofokeng and Mokone are among the other players brought in by the KwaZulu-Natal club.

Kadodia’s confirmation ends speculation over Brooks’ next move and establishes Durban City as his latest club. The midfielder will now resume his career in South Africa after his period in Greece.

The deal was finalised without a transfer fee, with Brooks joining Durban City on a free transfer. The club has not provided any further details about the agreement, including how long the former TS Galaxy and AmaZulu player will remain with the side.
