Stamford Bridge showed no hesitation in paying a heartfelt tribute to Didier Drogba on Tuesday during his return to London for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.
The Ivorian striker, returning to a stadium where he spent 8 years of his career, was honored with a “Silver Shoe” in recognition of his contributions to the Blues. Drogba received applause from the fans as soon as he stepped onto the pitch for warm-up. He also exchanged greetings with his mentor José Mourinho before kick-off.
However, it is Galatasaray who currently finds themselves trailing 1-0 (1-1 on aggregate) after 20 minutes of play following a goal from Samuel Eto’o, the other African star of the evening.
