Florent Ibenge, the coach of the DR Congo national football team, has officially signed a one-year contract with the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA). This comes nearly six months after Ibenge took charge of the team, replacing Claude Leroy. The timing is crucial as it falls less than three weeks before the start of the 2015 African Cup of Nations, for which Ibenge successfully led the Leopards to qualification.
The contract runs until August 2015, but it has already been put into effect. FECOFA’s president, Constant Selemani Omari, emphasized the importance of finalizing the contract to ensure the team is fully prepared for the final phase of the competition.
Ibenge will receive a monthly salary of $18,000, while his assistant, Mwinyi Zahera, will earn $15,000. DR Congo is placed in Group B of the 2015 African Cup of Nations, alongside Zambia, Cape Verde, and Tunisia.
