Borussia Dortmund will include England midfielder of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka in their squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Following a brief break, Dortmund resumed preparations for the tournament on Monday, with head coach Niko Kovac overseeing the first training session in Brackel.
The session took place without several national team players, as attention now turns fully to the Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 15.
On loan Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is expected to travel with the team to the USA for the tournament. His loan spell with Dortmund is set to expire on June 30, but talks are underway between Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl and Chelsea to allow the midfielder to remain with the squad for the duration of the tournament.
Chukwuemeka’s inclusion would boost Dortmund’s midfield options as they aim to make a strong showing at the expanded Club World Cup.
The midfielder will be hoping to impress to convince Dortmund to do everything to secure his permanent signing from Chelsea.
