German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are yet to officially contact Olympique Lyon about their interest to sign French-Algerian midfielder Rayan Cherki.
According to information gathered, the club will only contact the French Ligue 1 outfit at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
For nearly a year, the 21-year-old French star has lingered in Dortmund’s plans, with the club reaching out officially last winter to explore a transfer. Lyon, grappling with financial strain at the time, seemed ripe for a deal until they stunned BVB by turning down a solid offer, halting the move in its tracks.
Sources have revealed that Dortmund’s interest hasn’t faded, even after a second failed push left relations with Lyon frosty. The price tag has since spiked Dortmund’s 22.5 million euro bid from winter now looks modest against Cherki’s current 30 million euro valuation.
The midfielder, regarded as one of the best in his position, has been in sensational form this season.
He has scored seven goals and provided nine assists after making 24 appearances in the French Ligue 1.
Dortmund will need to do a lot of convincing to secure his services from Lyon in the next summer transfer window.
