German giants, Borussia Dortmund will abandon efforts to sign English midfielder of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka if the club succeeds in efforts to sign Jobe Bellingham.
Dortmund have had their eyes on the 19-year-old Jobe Bellingham for some time, and according to sources, their interest has become more concrete.
The club has made the young midfielder a priority target in the upcoming summer transfer window, with internal discussions already underway to secure his signature.
Dortmund are believed to have a unique advantage in the race. Several staff members at the club maintain strong ties with the Bellingham family, dating back to Jude Bellingham’s successful stint at the club.
The relationship with Jobe’s father, Mark Bellingham, is said to remain intact and will make it easy for any deal to be reached.
If the move to sign Jobe Bellingham is successful, Borussia Dortmund are expected to drop their interest in Carney Chukwuemeka.
The Chelsea midfielder is currently on loan at Dortmund, and there is interest in signing him on a permanent deal.
While Chukwuemeka is open to making a permanent switch to Dortmund, he will also not have a problem returning to Chelsea at the end of the season.
