Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac has provided an update on the recovery of German-Nigerian midfielder Felix Nmecha.
The talented midfielder has been out of action since January 25 when he picked an injury during Dortmund’s clash against Werder Bremen.
According to Kovac, Felix Nmecha is back in training, although he is nowhere close to making a return.
Speaking at a press conference, the Dortmund manager said, “I just saw Felix, and today he completed his first run – straight-line only, no changes of direction. The brace is off, and he’s not in significant pain. The progress is very satisfactory.”
Niko Kovac is of the view that Felix Nmecha is the future of Borussia Dortmund in his position.
“I said this back at Wolfsburg: I see him as a No. 6. With his vision and understanding of the position, he’s a future player for the 6 or even the 8.
“But we need to ensure he gets back to a strong physical level and catches up. That takes time. He’s the future of this club – we all know that,” Kovac said.
