Dortmund manager Niko Kovac has spoken highly of Guinean international Serhou Guirassy, saying he is like a life insurance to the team following his outstanding performance.
The 28-year-old has been pivotal for Dortmund this season, 24 goals and delivering five assists in 34 appearances across competitions.
The German giants has heavily relied on Guirassy despite having a difficult few weeks due to his commitment to fasting during the month of Ramadan.
“He is like life insurance for us at the moment,” Kovac said.
“He is focused on the game and continues to play well. The fact that it is Ramadan makes it not easier for him, but he is very professional and manages things well,” he added.
Guirassy came close to leaving Dortmund in the January transfer but had his move fell through.
The Guinean international is expected to play a huge role for Dortmund ahead of their crucial Champions League game against Lille.
The German outfit played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg clash, held at the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK last Tuesday.
Guirassy will be pivotal for Dortmund in the second leg clash of the Round 16 as they seeks qualifiaction to the quarterfinals.
