Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Chelsea to extend the loan deal of England midfielder of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka.
The German Bundesliga outfit signed Carney Chukwuemeka on loan in the winter transfer window for the rest of the season.
The loan agreement includes a purchase option reportedly worth €35 million. Although Dortmund have been impressed with the midfielder during his loan stint, the club is not in a good place to trigger the purchase option.
However, the club wants to extend Carney Chukwuemeka’s loan until the end of the FIFA Club World Cup
According to sources, the club is currently negotiating with Chelsea about a two-week loan extension for Chukwuemeka.
The current loan contract expires on June 30, right in the middle of the Club World Cup, which ends on July 13.
To have Chukwuemeka around throughout the tournament, Dortmund are hoping Chelsea will agree to extend the current loan deal by additional two weeks.
