Borussia Dortmund are reportedly willing to give Italy-born defender of Senegalese descent a chance to prove his worth in the 2025/26 football season.
BVB are preparing for their first competitive fixture of the season against Rot-Weiss Essen on August 18, but head coach Niko Kovac currently has only Waldemar Anton available in central defence.
Key defenders Nico Schlotterbeck, Emre Can, and, most recently, Niklas Süle are all sidelined with injuries and are not expected to return soon.
While Dortmund are exploring potential defensive reinforcements, Sky reports that no final decision has been made on external signings. For now, the club is placing its trust in 20-year-old Mané, who progressed through Dortmund’s youth system and was promoted to the first team by Kovac during pre-season.
According to Sky reporter Patrick Berger, Dortmund are also monitoring Juan Giménez of Rosario and Chelsea’s Renato Veiga. However, much of the club’s transfer budget remains allocated for attacking additions.
