Aubameyang Open to Saint-Étienne Return Despite Dortmund Commitment
Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted at a possible return to his former club, AS Saint-Étienne, in the future, despite remaining fully committed to his current team.
The Gabon international has been one of the few bright spots in a challenging season for Dortmund, netting 13 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions. Yet, in an interview with RMC, Aubameyang revealed that Saint-Étienne still holds a special place in his heart.
“I still follow them, it’s part of me,” he said. “And besides, there was a pretty crazy match against Lens (3-3)! I’m happy with their season.”
When asked whether he could see himself playing again in the iconic green jersey of Les Verts, Aubameyang responded with heartfelt honesty: “I sincerely hope so. It’s a club that has left its mark on me. The supporters have been very grateful to me.”
While a return to Ligue 1 is not imminent, the 25-year-old’s comments will no doubt excite Saint-Étienne fans who fondly remember his impact at the club before his 2013 move to Germany. For now, though, Aubameyang remains focused on helping Dortmund recover from a difficult Bundesliga campaign.
