Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai spoke warmly about his relationship with teammate Mohamed Salah, especially in light of the recent tension between the Egyptian star and coach Arne Slot.
In comments to Sky Sports, he said: “I think our relationship is very close, and you should ask him too about that. From my first day here, Salah took me under his wing and tried to help me with everything I asked about, and I was completely open to learning from him.”
He added: “We have become closer day by day, we talk about many things, and the level of trust between us has grown a lot, to the point that I might know things about him that nobody else does.”
Addressing Salah’s recent difficult spell, Szoboszlai explained: “It was not good to see him suffering, but he is professional enough to handle his situation. I was always there if he wanted to talk and kept asking if I could help, even though I knew he would overcome it himself.”
On Salah’s future, he concluded: “Of course everyone hopes he returns after the Africa Cup of Nations to help us again like last season. As a friend and teammate, I love playing beside him and I know exactly what he can do; he showed it by contributing to 70 goals in our title-winning season.”
