Former Algeria national team coach Djamel Belmadi has been at the center of speculation since his departure following the early exit from AFCON 2023. Recent reports linked him to a potential role at Qatari club Al-Shamal SC, but these rumors have been debunked.

Al-Shamal SC recently signed Algerian international Baghdad Bounedjah, who left Al-Sadd after winning the Qatari Professional League.

Bounedjah, previously speculated to join clubs in Saudi Arabia or Algeria’s Mouloudia, chose to stay in Qatar for family reasons, committing to a two-year contract with Al-Shamal SC, a club traditionally positioned in the middle or lower tiers of the league but now seemingly harboring new ambitions.

In the wake of Bounedjah’s signing, rumors surfaced that Djamel Belmadi would also join Al-Shamal SC.

However, Belmadi, currently on a break, has been linked with numerous positions, none of which have materialized.

Potential opportunities at Al-Rayyan SC and the Azerbaijan national team were also mentioned, but nothing has been confirmed.

When approached for comment, Belmadi categorically denied any truth to the rumors about his move to Al-Shamal SC.

“For now, I am focusing on rest and spending time with my family,” Belmadi stated, indicating his intent to take a step back before embarking on a new project or challenge.

Belmadi’s silence speaks volumes about his current state of mind. After the intense period with the Algerian national team, he seems to be in no rush to jump into a new role.

He is taking his time to carefully consider his next career move, aiming for a project that presents a genuine challenge.

Furthermore, Belmadi has not yet taken any action regarding his dispute with the Algerian Football Federation.

This ongoing issue remains unresolved, adding another layer to his current period of reflection and decision-making.

Djamel Belmadi’s tenure with the Algerian national team was marked by significant achievements, including winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.

His departure following the disappointing performance at AFCON 2023 has left fans and pundits speculating about his next move.

Despite various reports, Belmadi remains focused on his personal life and is in no rush to return to the sidelines.

In conclusion, while Djamel Belmadi’s name continues to circulate in football circles, any imminent move to Al-Shamal SC or other clubs appears unfounded.

For now, the former Algeria coach is prioritizing rest and family time, taking a much-needed break before considering his next professional endeavor.
