Dismissed Angola coach Pedro Gonçalves linked with Kaizer Chiefs job
Portuguese tactician, Pedro Soares Gonçalves, has been linked with the head coach job at South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs.
According to Cabine Desportiva, the coach is also interested in the job and could take the role before the end of September.
The 49-year-old Portuguese tactician was recently dismissed after eight years with the Palancas Negras, following the team’s failure to progress to the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Despite the setback, Gonçalves leaves behind an impressive legacy, having guided Angola to consecutive COSAFA Cup titles, including a memorable 3-0 victory over South Africa in the final.
Since his exit, the coach has reportedly attracted interest from several clubs, including Egyptian giants Al Ahly, who recently parted ways with Jose Riveiro.
Kaizer Chiefs, meanwhile, are believed to be weighing their options as speculation grows over the future of current coach Nasreddine Nabi.
