Devis Epassy: Santa Clara linked with move for Cameroon-France FC Dinamo goalkeeper

Cameroon-France goalkeeper Devis Epassy of Romanian side FC Dinamo is being linked with a switch to Portuguese club Santa Clara in a move that could see the 33-year-old become a free agent before changing leagues.

The experienced stopper, valued at €400k on Transfermarkt, is rumoured to be on Santa Clara’s radar as the Liga Portugal side assess their options in goal ahead of the new campaign. The probability of the transfer remains unclear, with the reported likelihood listed only as “?”, and no agreement yet in place between the clubs.

Epassy, who wears the No 1 shirt at FC Dinamo, has an undefined contract situation in Romania, with no formal expiry date publicly registered. That has fuelled suggestions he could negotiate a departure without a transfer fee if his deal is close to running down or has effectively expired, opening the door to a possible free-agent move.

Born in Soisy-sous-Montmorency, France, and standing at 1.89m, Epassy holds both Cameroonian and French nationality. A right-footed goalkeeper, he has built a career across Europe and is now featuring in Romania’s SuperLiga with Dinamo 1948. His latest outing for Dinamo came in a SuperLiga fixture earlier this month, when he started in goal in a narrow defeat to domestic opposition; despite the loss, he produced several key stops to keep the scoreline down and underline his shot-stopping qualities.

A move to Santa Clara would add Liga Portugal to a CV that already includes top-flight experience in multiple countries, with his market value suggesting an affordable, low-risk option for the Azores-based club.

If the transfer does materialise, a new chapter in Portugal could offer Epassy both fresh visibility and a late-career platform to enhance his reputation in one of Europe’s increasingly scouted leagues.
