Désiré Goué, the talented PSG star, set the tone ahead of the Champions League quarter-final showdown against Aston Villa, scheduled for April 9 at Parc des Princes.
As the French giants prepare to host the English side, Goué dismissed any talk of PSG being the frontrunners, instead tipping his hat to Villa’s impressive run to this stage.
“At this stage of competition, luck is not necessary. If Aston Villa is here, it is because they deserve it. We are not talking about favorite,” said Goué.
“Villa is a good team with good players. You will have to be serious from the start to the end of the match, and even in the return match,” he added.
This midweek battle marks the first of two legs between the clubs, who are meeting for the first time in European competition.
With a semifinal spot on the line against either Real Madrid or Arsenal, both teams will leave it all on the pitch. Wednesday’s opener promises a fierce fight for the upper hand.
