The highly anticipated clash between Assaria and their neighbors Olympique ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, as both teams showcased their prowess on the field in the 11th round of the Libyan Premier League’s second group stage, held at Al-Zawiyah Stadium.
The first half, officiated by referee Rafaa El-Houti, was dominated by Olympique, who took the lead in the 41st minute through a powerful strike from Jaafar Agbouda outside the penalty box, leaving goalkeeper Ahmed Ayad unable to deflect it, nestling it into the bottom right corner.
In the second half, after several attempts, Assaria’s top scorer, Yacoub Abdullah, equalized in the 68th minute, converting a cross from his teammate Mohammed Khalil from the left flank past goalkeeper Ahmed Ezaga, leveling the playing field once again.
In the 74th minute, from a cross played by Cameroonian Junior, veteran Mohammed El-Shabli of Olympique managed to score the second goal, a challenging header beating goalkeeper Ahmed.
With this result, both teams added a point to their tally, with Assaria now on 10 points, securing the eighth position, while Olympique sits in ninth place with 9 points.
