Demba Bâ has strongly denied claims that he is injured, asserting in an exclusive interview with Senegal’s sports daily STADES that he is at 100% fitness and fully capable of playing.
The Besiktas striker explained that coach Alain Giresse had asked him about the progress of his ankle injury, and he assured the coach that he was doing very well and had already played matches without any issues since returning from international duty.
Bâ expressed frustration about being left out of the 23-man squad for the crucial CAN 2015 qualifiers against Egypt and Botswana, saying:
“If Alain Giresse wanted to take me, he would take me, because my ankle is not hurting at all… I didn’t try to understand, I just said OK.”
On the ongoing tension with the coach, he said firmly:
“It is not Alain Giresse who will decide my fate in the Senegalese national team. I am always ready to wear this jersey. I have nothing more to prove to anyone.”
He added that everything has been normal since he returned to the national team, implying that if there’s an issue, it should be looked for on Giresse’s side.
Clearly, Bâ feels overlooked despite being physically ready and remains eager to represent Senegal.
