Como’s head coach, Cesc Fàbregas, has indicated that Dele Alli may be set to make his debut in the upcoming home match against Venezia on Saturday.
Alli, an English midfielder of Nigerian descent, joined the Italian Serie A club in January 2025 on an 18-month contract.
Since his arrival, Alli has been diligently working to regain full fitness.
Fàbregas commented on his progress, stating he is gradually regaining match fitness.
“Dele Alli ready for his debut? It’s a progression, he came with us to Rome. He’s not ready to play yet, he’ll be on the bench tomorrow and then we’ll see…
“I have to feel the sensation of bringing him on, he’s growing and making important steps forward. We have to guide him, take care of him and bring him onto the pitch in the best possible condition.”
Alli’s last professional appearance dates back to February 2023 during his loan spell with Turkish club Beşiktaş, which was cut short due to a groin injury.
Following the expiration of his contract with Everton in June 2023, Alli faced a challenging period marked by injuries and personal issues, including an addiction to sleeping pills and trauma from childhood abuse.
Despite these setbacks, he has been training with Como since Christmas and has impressed the coaching staff with his dedication and progress.
