Deco hails Barcelona star Lamine Yamal as a rare talent

Deco believes football doesn’t often produce players like Lamine Yamal.

The Barcelona sporting director has declared the 17-year-old forward a rare gift to the game, one of those players who only comes around once in a generation and leaves a lasting mark.

Yamal played a key role in Barcelona’s league title triumph in the 2024/25 season.

“Lamine is the kind of player who only appears once every few years and captivates everyone. He’s not only technically gifted, but also very mature for his age,” said Deco.

The former Portuguese international praised Lamine Yamal’s blend of skill and composure, adding that his connection with younger fans gives him a special kind of appeal.

“He also has that charm, not only through what he shows on the pitch, but also because, perhaps because of his young age, he particularly appeals to young fans.”

“That makes him a player who not only impresses those who watch him play, but also creates his own story.”
